Situation in Yemen

March 2011

Yemen is currently experiencing significant levels of politically motivated civil unrest as thousands of protesters continue to demonstrate against the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Foreign nationals have not been directly targeted during the recent civil unrest; however, there remains an elevated incidental threat in the vicinity of protests.

Due to the deteriorating security and political situation in Yemen and limited evacuation and consular assistance options, our security partners, red24 has reviewed their travel advisory for Yemen and now advises clients against travel to the country. Furthermore, clients in Yemen in a non-essential role are advised to depart, as transport options out of the country are limited.
